On the Island of Rhodes.

A calm sea front greets the visitor on Rhode Island. The setting sun and the darkened forground at the left lends an eerie sensation. A few outlines of buildings are faintly visible and a few tourists are enjoying the seabreeze and sunset. Lots of boats are anchored at the jetty. Two structures are tall of which one could be a tower of a castle. Painted in 1861 as oil on canvas by Aivazovsky this picture is displayed at The Aivazovsky Art Gallery at Feodosia in Ukraine.
