The Battle in the Chios Channel.

This battle scene at sea during the Russian-Turks war is well presented by the indomitable seascapist Aivazovsky in this oil on canvas made in 1848.The Russian flotilla blasted the Turk fleet and the smoke from the burning ships lend color and pep to this action packed scenario. The time is broad daylight and there are white clouds obstructing direct sunlight. This painting is on display at The Aivazovsky Art Gallery at Feodosia in Ukraine.
