The Caucasian Range from the Sea.

Aivazovsky has once again demonstrated his clear cut expertise in painting sea and sea related topics with unmistakeable clarity. Realistic representation is his hallmark and this painting fulfils all criteria to be labeled a masterpiece. The mountain range is thinly visible through the waves at midsea and two ships are sailing. Though no storm is indicated the ship at the foreground looks as if its in a whirlpool. This 1894 oil on canvas is at The Aivazovsky Art Gallery at Feodosia in Ukraine.
