The Roads at Kronstadt.

Aivazovsky has shown here a rescue operation at sea. A ship in distress is attended to by a boatload of workers and even other ships in the vicinity are trying to help.

The weather is stormy and the dark clouds at the left suggest a gale is soon to strike. Aivazovsky has convincingly put across his imaginative thought process in conjuring up a sea story for this picture done in 1840 oil on canvas. This picture is at The Russian Museum at St. Petersburg.
