View of the Sea by Moonlight Painting by Ivan Aivazovsky

View of the Sea by Moonlight.

Romanticism literally overflows in this beautiful seascape by the moonlight done as oil on canvas by the reputed artist Aivazovsky in 1878. The full moon is intermittently showing itself through the clouds and a light mist also is there. The ship is quietly sailing in the peaceful sea. A mountain is shown lightly through the mist screen. The viewer is able to visualize he is at the spot. Such breathtaking realism has been incorporated convincingly in this fabulous work by Aivazovsky.

This jewel of a painting can be seen at The Russian Museum at St. Petersburg.
