Aleksey’s 1762 oil on canvas is a catchy picture of the emperor who seems to be exuding a special pride and self confidence, while he has slung his sword with its sheath down his waist and holds the sceptre like object with his right hand. The long stocking and tight fitting upper jacket lends an ancient charm. His lady seems to be lolling in bed as demonstrated by her hand that is visible through the unfolded bedspread or comforter. The ornamental leg of the table nearby lends grace to this portrait which can be seen at The Russian Museum at St. Petersburg in Russia.
