Aleksey Antropov Painting Portrait of F. Krasnoschiokov.
Portrait of F. Krasnoschiokov. - Famous Art work
& Drawing by Aleksey Antropov
Portrait of F. Krasnoschiokov.
This portrait of Ataman F.Krasnoschiokov was painted
by the famous Russian
painter Aleksey Petrovich Antropov. Ataman is the title given to supreme
leaders of Cossack armies during the Russian Civil War. Usually Atamans
were elected. F. Krasnoschiokov was the supreme military commander of
Cossac army in Russian Empire.
Aleksey Antropov was a barocco painter from St. Petersberg, Russia.
He took
part in the decoration of numerous palaces there. “The Last Supper”
at the
Kiev church of St. Andrew is one of his most prominent paintings.
In 1760s Antropov started drawing portraits of Russian Icons. The Emperor
of
Russia, Peter III encouraged and supported Antropov in his work.
This portrait of F. Krashnochiokov is drawn following the parsuna tradition
of portrait painting. The colors are with sharp contrast and background
is
dark. Parsuna is a blend of technography and portraiture. This was
developed in Russia in late 16th century. In parsuna, stylish qualities
and
techniques of traditional Russian icon painting is combined with Western
European Secular painting. As we see in this portrait, the drawing is
rigid with a linear perspective so as to fix and commemorate the features
of the depicted icon. The decorative splendor and intense colors make
the
portrait outstanding.
In this portrait made by Aleksy in 1761 with oil on canvas looks every
inch a Mongol, what with his long moustache.
The rich crimson coat and the medallion with the empress’s figure
in it lend an exotic charm to the portrait. Portraiture seems to be the
strong point of the artistic acumen of Aleksey.
This magnificent picture is exhibited at The Russian Museum at St. Petersburg
In Russia.
