Portrait of Peter the Great.

Peter the Great in this portrait by Aleksey resembles more a muslim man what with a good trimmed moustache. But he is not having the imposing look and does not show expressions of cunningness. The cloth tied around his neck connects him more with an ordinary man. The sash on his right shoulder however seems to have some symbols and the dark background prevents anything more to see. This 1772 oil on canvas is kept at The Taganrog Art Gallery at Taganrog in Russia.
