Antonello excelled in painting man’s face. This has been evidenced in this painting too in ample measure.Antonello has achieved great success in highlighting the well illuminated face of the man by giving a dark background and allowing the lighter shades to brighten the face. This too is his Flemish style work of oil on wood done in 1474 and is now preserved in Gemaeldegalerie in Berlin, Germany.
