Madonna and Child.

This oil on wood work of Antonello has shown the Madonna as a queen with a crown and belonging to thje Caucasian stock.Unlike many other similar works the mother as well as the child are looking aristocratic. The child looks much older, a mismatch of face and body. He is holding a toy ball. The Madonna wears a nice necklace that is half concealed. The costumes also look expensive. Painting with dark shades has magnified the richness.This painting is on view at the National Gallery, London.
