Alexey Bogoliubov Paintings & Drawings - Art
Alexey was a Russian painter who served earlier in the
navy and then entered the arena of arts. He was tremendously influenced
by Ivan Aivazovsky.
Alexey Bogoliubov received the award of The Russian Academy’s
Gold Medal in 1853. Later he had the opportunity to work with Alexander
Ivanov in Rome and under Andreas Achenbach in Duesseldorf. Alexey had
the unwillingness to compose landscapes. He liked the beauty of nature
and painted that. He was made a professor in the Academy in Russia.
In due course one could see in his works the disappearance
of romanticism. He later painted landscapes with big spaces and light
effects as per the time of the day.The subjects and titles he chose were
Monastery; Suburbs of Constantinople; Barge; Seaside of Constantinople;
View of St. Michael Palace in St.Petersburg From the Swan Canal; Battle
of Ship Vesta with Turkish ironclad Fetki Buland in Black Sea; Battle
of Gangut; Pisa-View of the Baptistery and The Cathedral.
Alexey Bogoliubov's works are preserved at The Russian
Museumat St. Petersburg, The Central Naval Museum at St. Petersburg, Omsk
Museum of Fine Arts in Omsk in Russia, and the K.Savitsky Picture Gallery
in Penza in Russia.
