This famous Italian Renaissance painter o religious subjects was moulded by Girolamo Savonarola. The latter believed that all art must be dedicated to Biblical themes so that those who could not read the Bible are benefited.

Fra made a portrait of Savonarola which is now at Museo Nazionale di San Marco in Florence. The fresco “Universal Judgement”was done by him for the Ospedale di Santa Maria Nuova. His “Vision of St.Bernard” was after he was trained under Raphael in perspective art. Fra also painted “Holy Father”, “St.Mary Magdalene” and “St. Catherine of Siena” in Venice using the color schemes of that region.His altarpiece is in the Museum of San Marco. In 1513 he painted “Peter and Paul” in Rome.
