Caravggio Amitabh got married to Jaya Bhaduri, an actress of rare talents. He has won Filmfare Award, National Award and has been conferred Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan for his histrionic achievements. British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) once made a film on him. At the invitation of his friend, the late Rajiv Gandhi, Amitabh fought and won the election for the Parliament from the Allahabad constituency in 1984.His tenure in politics lasted a short time, as he resigned from the Parliament in the wake of Bofors gun scandal and other controversies.

His most successful films are: Anand(1970), Namak Haram (1973), Abhiman (1973), Mili (1975), Deewar, Sholay (1975), Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Mukaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Trishul (1978), Silsila (1981), Shakti(1982), Agni-path (1990). His films are equally popular in Asia, Europe, Africa and America. Amitabh features well in song and dance sequences. His rendering of Khai Ke Paan Banaraswala (don) and Jumma Chumma De De, (hum) became craze with the younger generation.

Amitabh can be said to represent India in the world cinema. Critics have rated him as good actor in the row of Marlon Brando, Sean Connery and Cary Grant of Hollywood. Nevertheless, he remained an evergreen actor for more than decade.

After a pause for some time hs now back again to silver screen to perform some selective roles. He has established fhis own company “Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd” (ABCL) concerning various facets of entertainment including film distribution, culture and music. His company co-sponsored’ “The Miss World Beauty Pageant” 1996 held at Bangalore.
