Caravavgio -Hadlee entered the Test cricket arena in 1972-73. Since then, he has played the role of anchorman for the New Zealand team. His overall performance has been a key parameter in their victories over the years. In 1977-78 New Zealand triumphed over England. After that New Zealand won the series against England on their home ground. In 1985-86, he took 33 wickets against Australia in only three Tests. New Zealand has won many matches against England, Australia, India and West Indies because of his sterling performance.

Hadlee is supposed to be the most technically perfect fast bowler after Denis Lilee of Australia. He set up a record of taking 300 wickets in only 61 Tests. He was only the second person to do so. Cricket has witnessed a galaxy of fast bowlers like Freddie Trueman, Dennis Lilee, Ian Botham, Bob Willis, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, but Hadlee remains the most shining star so far.
