Christine Otto will always be remembered for her spectacular performances in the swimming pool. There have been many swimmers before her who have engraved their names on the roll of honour, but Christine touched such heights that no swimmer could outdo her. Her achievements in the swimming pool will remain part of the Olympic history, when in Seoul Olympics she won six gold medals- never before won by any woman swimmer. She established four Olympic records also. She won gold in 50 metres freestyle (25.49 seconds), 100 metres freestyle (54.93 seconds), 100 metres backstroke, 100 metres butterfly stroke (59 seconds), 4X100 metres medley relay and 4X100 metres freestyle relay.
