Angrand Charles Famous Paintings

This famous French painter was a practitioner of pointillism early in his career. Later on he embraced Neo Impressionism bringing in into his work strong contrasts and vibrant hues. He studied optical effects in paintwork like his contemporaries in Paris. Great attention was paid to division of tone and color and light analysis. He did a lot of plein air studies doing landscapes and producing Paris suburban scenes employing the pointillist techniques. H was a staunch canvasser of anarchism. At the Athenauem his selected paintings are on display: ‘Le Petit Port’ oil on canvas; ‘Le Pont de Pierre’, 1881, oil on canvas; ‘Mother and Child’ charcoal drawing; and ‘Guardians of Turkeys’, 1881, oil on canvas.
