Kishore’s real name was Abhas Kumar Ganguly. He was born at Khandwa (MP) on August 4, 1929. After his upbringing at Khandwa and Indore, he moved to Bombay where his elder brother Ashok Kumar was a popular film hero. Kishore worked hard to establish himself as a singer, actor, producer, director, and music director. As a matter of fact he ventured over all such things. Miusic director Khemchand Prakash gave him a chance to sing in the film Ziddi. His song Marne Ki duyaen kyon mangu gave him instant popularity. He had lent his voice to top actors like Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Some of his songs became memorable. Kishore married four times. His wives were Ruma Devi, Madhubala, Hogita Bali and Leena Chandravarkar. His sudden death on October 13, 1987 stunned the country and his admirers.
