Nothing was as uncertain as life during the Second World War. People lived in constant fear. They were afraid of the Nazs, who were butchering people, especially the Jews. But, the life of the Nazi soldiers and the generals was not easy. They were also frightened of being kidnapped or killed by the enemies. To avoid such a mishappening, the Nazi generals were provided with special security. General Karl Kreipe, a member of Hilter’s ‘Wehermacht’ and a hero of Leningrad, was also provided with special security at Crete, an island in Greece.

General Kreipe was heading a battalion of 2,200 German soldiers at Crete. In fact, he was the most powerful and the trusted General of Hitler. But, the enemies had other plans in their minds. They wanted to kidnap him so that the German soldiers may become berserk in the absence of their general. This was a difficult task, but Britain was hopeful of their mission.
