The Road to Louveciennes |
Barrister Sir Haileyde informed Sun Wan about the reasons of his arrest. Sun Wan was accused of instigating masses against the Manchu king by distributing leaflets. He was also accused of sneaking into London on the ‘Majestic’ ship.
Sun Wan openly disagreed to sir Haileyde’s accusations. Instead,
Sun argued that he was not Sun Wan. Haileyde did not believe it. Sun Wan
them sought permission to inform his English friends. Haileyde refused
to grant permission for this, but asked him to inform his landlord and
to collect the necessary articles from lhis place. Sun Wan did not agree
to this. To him, this appeared to be an evil design of Haileyde, so as
to prove his crime.
