The Riverside Path

With the green signal from the officers, Major Patrick and Major Moss packed up their luggage. Major, Patrick entered Crete through a parachute. Major Moss was slightly unlucky. As soon as he was to descend from the aero plane, the atmosphere changed. Thick fog covered the ground and Moss had to delay his descend. Finally, Moss got down near the sea and very carefully sneaked into the country. He disguised himself and went to Herakleion, where Major Partick had reached earlier. They stayed with Micky, another British spy, who lived near Gemneral Kreipe’s residence.

Both the Majors, studied the situation. They continuously watched the activities of General Kreipe, who used to go to the army office in the morning and return only in the evening. The army office was 5 miles away. That route was clear except a sharp turn on which General Kreipe’s car had to be slowed down. This was the spot which Major Patrick and Major Moss thought suitable for kidnapping.
