Surrender of Breda

A buffalo was eating the grass. Suddenly, a tiger appeared. It revolved around the buffalo, took a position and then pounced upon her. There was a loud noise of the two animals falling down. The tiger had killed the buffalo. It was eating buffalo’s neck. Contrary to the general notion that a tiger always attacks by the paws, it killed the buffalo by its sharp teeth.

This is the scene described by famous Jim Corbett. In his own words, “Now I was facing the tiger’s right side. I had a .275 rifle. I aimed at the tiger and pulled the trigger. But io, the tiger vanished with the sound of the shot. The dead buffalo was only lying there. I had failed. The tiger had run away. Still I was optimistic. I thought that the tiger would return to eat its prey. But, I was wrong.”
