Two Gorkha companies were sent to give a final blow to the Japanese, Ganju Lama belonged to one of them. He was born in Sikkhim’s Lama family, but since his father had settled in Nepal, he was recruited in the Gorkha Brigade.

At about 2.30 a.m., when both the Gorkha companies marched forward, the Japanese tanks fiercely attacked them. Under such circumstances, Ganju Lama thought of attacking the hidden Japanese tanks. He pressed his guns into his hands, crawled on lthe knees advanced in the marshy land. Ganju did not think it necessary to take instruction from anyone. While crawling, he was noticed by the enemies, and thus, he was attacked. Ganju’s one leg, two hands, left wrist were wounded, but nobody could stop him. Reaching near the Japanese tanks, he wasted no time in destroying the three of them. Then he returned to his company, but did not stop his activities.
