The Buffoon Calabazaz |
Aesop |
Now it was clear that the tigress attacked only young children and also
that the tigress had grown weak, for it was never able to kill the prey
in one go. Jim once again waited for the culprit to arrive, but in vain.
And when finally disillusioned, Jim thought of taking rest at the rest
house, situated 20 miles away. While on his way, he met a shepherd, who
informed him that the man-eater is somewhere around. Jim offered him a
cigarette and walked towards the rest house. Early next morning, he heard
the news that the tigress attached that shepherd boy. This time the tigress
ran away leaving behind the half-dead victim because the buffaloes attacked
her. But, that shepherd’s life could not be saved. He died in the
hospital.
