The medal, which looks like a cross, was manufactured by melting the metal from the guns during the Crimean War. The Royal Crown and a Lion are engraved on it with the inscription ‘For Valour;.

Ganju Lama, another Gorkha Rifles man, was also awaded the Victoria Cross, whose bravery gave a death-blow to the Japanese.
