One day, when the sentries were searching for Block 123, a ferret accidentally jabbed his probe into the edge of Tom’s trapdoor. So, not only the tunnel, but also the whole roof of the Block was dug and blown up. That was a bolt from the blue. At the end of August, the Americans were moved to their new compound. The prisoners threw a great party of them on home-brewed season for the escapees.

Meanwhile, an attempt was made for the prisoners on ground to escape. Hence, the carpenters made imitations of the German rifles out of wood. Three prisoners, disguised as Luftwaffe, took 25 other prisoners in low under the pretext of cleaning their clothes, but escaped into the woods. A few minutes later, six senior imprisoned officers tried to get through, but they were detected and arrested. Consequently, all the prisoners wee forced to stand on parade for nearly seven hours. The three missing prisoners were identified. Later they were arrested before they could reach a safe place.
