Captain Tennant gave crisp orders to his staff, which lined up on the dunes in groups of 50 each. These troops were to march slowly towards the banks. The British ship, Queen of the Channel, was allowed to stop at the port, and 7,669 men were safely transported to England. That was the first defensive installment.
