On 20th October, eight of the greinde’s lieutenants were shot dead at Brussels, where 28 years ago, the nurse named Edith Cavell had died for the same cause. In his last letter, one of the men, who was shot dead, wrote: “dying for the ideal we all shared”.

In January 1944, ‘Franco’, who had helped 215 men to freedom, was arrested in Paris. By February, most of the ‘Comets’ operators in the north were in the Gestapo’s hands. On 28th March, 1944, Andree’s father was shot dead by the Germans near Paris. He sacrificed his life for the cause which was no dear to him.
