On Saturday, the German air force stepped up its attack. This time the Royal air force faced the challenge courageously. More than 65,000 British soldiers and 50,000 French soldiers could easily reach the ships by walking on the Dunkirk sand. An impressive number of 64,429 were lifted to England on that day.

Evacuation was even conducted at night. During the last day, another 52,921 men were rescued, bringing a total number to almost 3,38,226, of whom 1,39,911 were not British, but the other Allied troops.
