Who was that old businessman? Why were the Gestapo in search of him?

The story of this search began on 10th May, 1940. Franco-German war was on. After coming out of the woods near Le Catelet, the German infantry had encircled a French machine-gun nest. The entire area was pulverised by mortar fire. After encircling the entire area, the German officer ordered the survivors to surrender. To his amazement, among them appeared a six-feet tall, gray-moustached man. He had the five stars of a general on his kepi. Undoubtedly, he was a French General.
