For a moment, it seemed that ‘Comet’ would be destroyed. But, its vitality triumphed. A 23-year-old Belgian, code named ‘Franco’, emerged on ‘Comet’. Immediately after the round up of Andree, he escorted another batch of airmen. Greinde had already been arrested. The German Gestapo had kept him in a barrack, which was unfortunately bombarded by an Allied plane. Thus, ironically he was killed by his won supporters. By the spring of 1943, the Allied soldiers had reached northern Europe. Andree’s father was liberating 60 airmen a month. The old father had his daughter’s courage, but not her shrewdness. He committed blunder by recruiting a guide, a Belgian, who later proved to be a traitor. With a month, Andree’s father and his principal assistants were arrested. The brave Greef was still out and was carrying out Andree’s objectives. Throughout the summer, ‘Comet’ kept up its activities.
