In his effort to outsmart Bose, he didn’t arrest him at that time. At the next station, Rai got down from the train and went to the telegram office. He sent a telegram to Lahore that Bose was traveling with him and that formal arrest would be made there. On the other hand, Bose had predicated Rai’s game. So, at the next railway station, Mughalpura, Bose got down and went to the nearby hotel. In fact, even rai got down and followed Bose. Rai informed the local police station and waited for Bose to come out of that hotel. Bose did come out, but once again in a different outlook. This time he had disguised himself as a French gentleman. When a spy stopped him, Bose replied in French and quickly disappeared in a taxi.
