Shatouni was given a party post, but his artistic nature never liked attending the party meetings. Often he would enact a scene, hinting that he was not feeling well and thus leave the office.

However, the acid test of Vahan Shatouni’s acting was still to be tested. And the great occasion soon arrived. After the 1917 revolution, the Russian soldiers were leaving the fronts and returning to proper Russia. They were annoyed with their officers and wanted to take revenge who had treated them inhumanly.
