On the other hand, Subhash Chandra Bose reached Russia. He tried to meet Stalin. But, the meeting could never take place. Stalin was too busy as there were chances of the Russo-German alliance breaking up. Disappointed with Russia, Bose went to Germany. He met Hitler. This proved to be fruitful. The Indian soldiers, who were fighting for Britain in Libya, received small notes. Instead of dropping bombs, the German planes dropped these notes on the Indian soldiers. On these notes, Bose had appealed to the soldiers, “If Germany and England are fighting, let them fight. How does it affect us? Please stop fighting.”
