In 1942, Japan conquered Singapore. The soldiers laid down their arms. It was here that on 17th February, 1942 the defeated Indian soldiers were addressed by Captain Mohan Singh. A new army was formed. It was named as the Azad Hind Fauj. It was for the first time in the world history that an army was made out of the prisoners of war. The Indian prisoners of war stationed at other countries were also addressed. All of them were included into the Azad Hind Fauj was now fight for the freedom of their motherland, India.
