Mother Shipton is credited with some 400 prophesies. She had predicted about the downfall of Cardinal Wolsey. She had foretold regarding the troubles of common men during the reign of Emperor Henry. She also said that the power of church would decline and that the monasteries would be liquidated. Another famous prophesy was regarding the beheading of King Charles I of England. Many other astrologers had predicted about the killing of Charles I, but she was the first to make it. She had said:-

The white king shall wear the crown
And will have Lily as his wife,
But soon the sword of an executioner,
Will deprive him of his dear life.
