The meaning of this prophesy is crystal clear. Charles I had married Princess Henerietta Maria of France. She was lovingly called Lily. The King wore white gown at the time of his coronation, and was, as everybody knows, executed by the people.

Another prophesy of Mother Shipton:
A day shall soon come
When coaches will run without horses,
There shall be many accidents on the roads,
And people will be greatly worried.

She had foreseen the congestion on the roads due to petrol driven vehicles and the resultant increase in road accidents that would cause widespread anxiety sorrow.
