When he died in 1608, very few people knew about John Dee. Perhaps, he himself did not know that he would die unknown and unsung. But, at one time he was the favourite of Queen Elizabeth I of England, who had great respect for him and had appointed him as her personal astrologer.

She owed him a great debt of gratitude. He had brought her out of her depression by forecasting, “Do not despair, as the goods have indicated to me that you shall become the Queen in another four months.”
