The Robing of the Bride

Dr. Dee started experimenting with corpses dug out of their graves in the year 1581. He thought that he could get the help of spirits in divulging the future. He was caught in this act in 1582, but as he was a favourite of the Queen, nothing could be initiated against him.

It was during one such experiment with the dead that he prophesied on May 5, 1583, that England would be attacked by a foreign power from the sea and that the Queen of Scotland would be sentenced to death. It may be a coincidence or good luck, both these prophesies proved to be correct and the reputation of John Dee was now at its peak.
