In the beginning of the book, Nostradamus had given a mysterious message to his newly born son. The message is in the form of a letter. It said that it is useless to take interest in forecasting future. It may prove detrimental. When his son Caesar attained the age of 22, he thought of taking advantage of his father’s reputation by making predictions. He did not pay any attention to the message warning him against indulging in this profession which was the purport of the letter. He paid a heavy price for ignoring it
