Elizabeth I could not forget this prediction as well as the man who had made it, after ascending the throne of England. The man who predicted her ascension was a bearded old man, who wore loose clothes and was very ordinary looking. He was also referred to as a doctor.

Exactly four months after in 1558, Mary Tudor, Queen of England died. She was succeeded by her half-sister Elizabeth and as such the prophesy of the old doctor turned out to be true. To show her gratitude, Elizabeth issued an order, “Dr. John Dee is appointed as our personal astrologer,” as soon as she was crowned Queen of England.
