‘Loknayak’ Tulsidas’s exact birth place is not known
but it is believed that he was born in Rajpura (U.P.). He was taken into
care by Swami Narharidas of kashi who brought him, In his childhood, he
was taught Vedas, Puranas and Upanishads. Tulsidas was married to Ratnavali.
It is said that he was deeply attached to his wife who once exhorted him
to develop the same deep attachment to Lord Rama. Tulsidas then renounced
worldly life and became a devotee ofLord Rama making pilgrimages most
of his life.
