A Boar Hunt


He was taken prisoner by Boers but managed to escape and returned to England as a hero. Then he entered parliament and represented the Oldham constituency. In 1906, he became a Vice Minister and in 1911, First Lord of Admirality. He was Colonial Secretary from 1921 to 1923. On the outbreak of the Second World War he was invited by the British monarch to head the all-party government. He made his famous speech “blood, tears and sweat” on May 14, 1940 to the British House of Commons
