The exact date of brith of Zarathustra is not confirmed but from the available evidence, scholars believe that he lived inIran around 6th century B.C. It is, however, certain that he was born ina royal family. Legends to that he laughed the very day he was born. Zarathustra as a child was endowed withexceptional abilities. He renounced the world when he was just 15. After several years of hard meditation in seclusion Zarathustra got enlightenment. He had also a divine vision of Ahura Mazda (‘wise lord’).

After hebecame enlightened he set about to preach his faith. After initial hurdles, he became successful in having a large following. He never deviated from his path of righteousness. He also converted the king Vishtasp and many other kings to his faith, the Zoroastrianism. It is believed, that when he was 77, he was killed at the behest of an irreligious Shah.
