The Government of India conferred the title of ‘Padma Bhushan’ on Tenzing in 1959. As a matter of fact Tenzing was actively associated with all the Mount Everest expeditions from 1936 to 1953.

Tenzing was born in Nepal in a poor family. Tenzing was follower of Buddhism and had acquired the Indian citizenship in 1933. Coffee was his favourite drink and keeping dogs was his favourite hobby.
