Anthony and Cleopatra - Famous Art work & Drawing
by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema
Anthony and Cleopatra picture exposes the Roman influence on Sir Lawrence.
The opulent lifestyle of the royal folks is amply touched upon. History
is replete with the romance of this couple.
The queen is seated inside a houseboat and a musician is playing an instrument
like a flute. The queen is holding a long object in her left hand, perhaps
a wand. Servants are around to attend to her commands. The boat is floating
on a small lake and some buildings are visible. This Oil on Panel work
by Sir Lawrence done in 1885 and measuring 65.5x92 cm is in a private
collection.
