Spring - Famous Art work & Drawing by Sir Lawrence
Alma-Tadema
The onset of spring is a cause for celebration in the western culture
particularly in Britain and the Continent.
People seem to celebrate arrival of spring by singing and dancing and
playing music. Children seem to bring some fruits as offering either to
the monarch or to someone else. The setting shown is some palace made
of marble. Sir Lawrence has depicted heralding of spring in a very colorful
way, happiness radiating in all directions.
This picture of 1894 as oil on canvas is at the J.Paul Getty Museum,
Malibu, USA.
