Summer heralds thawing of cold in Europe with plants and trees in full bloom. Offering a bouquet of fresh flowers to anyone is a happy occasion. Sir Lawrence has attempted to project in this work the effect of summer via the flowers.

A bunch of roses and also other flowers are being carried by the woman and the younger girl beside her. Probably they wish to offer the flowers to somebody.This oil on panel done by Sir Lawrence in 1911 is with Dr George Nicholson, Oregon, USA.
