Again the nude women have been brought back to the fore. Looks like this
picture relives the Roman period. Conspicuously no men folk are in the
immediate vicinity, they are seen at a distance. Suggestive of a ‘puritan’
society existing then.
The scene is probably a public bath reserved for the royalty or nobility.
There are many nude or ill clad men and women in the background. Three
ladies on a bench in the foreground seem to be discussing something. Great
attention has been bestowed on people around. This oil on canvas of 1899
is in a private collection, UK.
