The real name of Lewis Carroll was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. He was born in England in 1832 and educated at Rugby and Oxford. From 1855 to 1881, he served as Lecturer in Mathematics at Christ Church College (Oxford University). Lewis Carroll also wrote parodies. Once while boating in the river Thames, he told an imaginary story to a little girl named Alice which later appeared in the form of Alice in Wonderland.

Though Lewis Carroll had no children of his won, as he remained a bachelor life long, he had deep affection for children. The books he wrote are greatly entertaining for little children.

Lewis Carroll passed away in 1898 at the age of 56. The children will always feel indebted to him for writing such a wonderful book as Alice in Wonderland for them. The Alice books and poems such as The Hunting Shark are built in mathematical illogic and paradox. Carroll was also a noted portrait photographer.
