His model-T Car sold 15 million during 1908-26. Ford also founded the ‘Dison Institute’ and spent a significant portion of his enormous wealth on social welfare activities. Being a pacifist, he visited Europe in an attempt to end World War I. In 1936, he founded with his son Edsel Ford (1893-1943), the philanthropic “Ford Foundation.” Even in this age of highly sophisticated technology, For Car is considered a status symbol.
